Easing Your Discomfort and Restoring Oral Health

When you visit our office experiencing tooth pain, our first step is to take digital images and have Dr. J conduct a comprehensive oral exam to locate the cause of the concern. From here, we discuss a conservative treatment plan to restore your smile without impacting existing dental health or causing a financial burden.

For cases of minor cavities, Dr. J removes decay and fills the area with a tooth-colored composite material that provides renewed aesthetics in addition to protecting the treated tooth. When severe issues are present, he may recommend a more comprehensive restoration plan.

Dental Implants and Associated Restorative Care

If a tooth is significantly compromised Dr. J may need to extract your tooth to protect your oral health. Once the affected tooth has been removed, we offer a variety of traditional and implant-supported prosthetics made from quality materials that return your smile to full health, function, and beauty.

Restoring your smile requires precise care, high-quality materials, and modern technology. Dr. J provides comprehensive dental restorations using CEREC®, an in-office machine that fashions porcelain restorations for customized treatment. This machine makes crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays, and the digital scanner that accompanies the machine can be used for other procedures as well. With CEREC, you have an opportunity to receive convenient restoration placement in one appointment.

How CEREC Works

After taking a digital scan of your mouth and analyzing the tooth in need of treatment, the image is processed and used to make a restoration. The digital impression is then further customized by Dr. J to match the shade of your existing teeth and then shaped to fit precisely. The design is carved from a block of high-quality dental porcelain.

Depending on the number of restorations and the type, it is possible to have your restoration created and placed on the same day. Some of the treatments we can provide with CEREC include:

Advanced Restoration Using Dental Implants

Dental implants need lasting restorations that will perfectly match your smile. With CEREC, your implant restoration can be prepared quickly and precisely, without the need for cumbersome impressions or waiting longer for a lab. Dr. J has received extra training in placing dental implants and their accompanying restorations. Once the implant posts have properly integrated with the jaw, we secure the restorations that add the final touches to your newly rejuvenated smile. CEREC allows us to provide comprehensive, efficient care for anyone with missing teeth.

Restoring Oral Health with Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy is a procedure involving the removal of damaged pulp from a tooth’s inner chambers that eliminates pain while also preventing infection from spreading or reoccurring. Dr. J has extensive experience performing this beneficial treatment and enjoys being able to ease a patient’s discomfort promptly.

Our office is equipped with high-quality hand instruments that allow Dr. J to perform the procedure with precision. During treatment, a small opening is made for the infected pulp to be removed through the most minimally invasive means possible. Once this is complete, he seals the opening and protects the tooth’s structure with a temporary restoration while a permanent same-day crown is custom-crafted.

Sedation Options for Comfortable Treatments and Optimal Results

If fear and anxiety have kept you from seeing the dentist in the past, you are not alone. This all-too-common problem affects the dental health and lives of countless people every day. Fortunately, there are options available to make your experience stress free. Lawrence dentist Dr. Patrick Jankowski and his expert staff at JayHawk Dental are pleased to offer a variety of sedation dentistry options for your peace of mind and an exceptional dental experience.

Contrary to popular belief, sedation dentistry doesn’t mean you’re rendered unconscious during your exam or procedures. The sedation options we offer will allow you to remain conscious and relaxed throughout your visit. We offer a few different options, and our exceptional staff will work with you to decide what works best for you.

Nitrous Oxide, commonly referred to as “laughing gas,” is a common choice and a mild sedative. It’s administered via a nose hood and is inhaled through the duration of the procedure. Side effects are minimal, and it elevates mood, relieves anxiety, and maximizes your comfort.

IV Sedation, or intravenous sedation, is more moderate sedation in nature. It’s administered directly into your bloodstream, which means it begins working immediately. This sedation option does make you feel groggy, so you’ll need a ride home after your appointment.

Oral Conscious Sedation is an oral medication taken before treatment, and then again during treatment if it is needed. It is an excellent option for those who are scared of needles. These oral sedatives don’t result in sleep, but instead, they relax and dull the senses. Most of the time, you won’t have a clear memory of the procedure after it’s finished. As with IV sedation, you’ll need a ride home after your appointment.

Restoring Your Smile with Full Mouth Reconstruction in Lawrence, KS

Full mouth reconstruction combines the fields of cosmetic and restorative dentistry to provide you with a renewed, healthy smile. It includes procedures that cover a broad range of services, from veneers to dental implants.

You may be self-conscious about your smile and desire full mouth reconstruction to repair:

  • Multiple missing teeth

  • Worn tooth enamel

Dr. J will perform a dental examination complete with digital x-rays and a discussion about the restorative and cosmetic treatments that will best suit you.

Your Denture Options

No matter how you may have lost your teeth, replacing them with quality prosthetics will improve your appearance and allow you to speak and eat confidently. Whether you are missing all your teeth or several in your upper or lower arch, there are quality denture appliances that look and feel natural.

Conventional Dentures - Conventional dentures use a traditional treatment plan. After allowing time for healing after the extraction procedure, your dentures can be placed and fitted. It may take a few weeks for you to become accustomed to your new teeth, and we will be available if any persistent irritation exists.

Immediate dentures – These restorations are created before your teeth are extracted so we can place them immediately after your procedure. This removes the inconvenience of having to go without teeth while healing takes place.

Partial Dentures - If you have some healthy teeth remaining, a partial denture can fill any gaps and complete your dentition. A partial denture enhances your smile and helps maintain uniformity by preventing remaining teeth from shifting into the gaps.
