Dr. Michelle Saunders, DDS
For Dr. Michelle Saunders, dentistry has been a lifelong calling deeply influenced by her family’s passion for service. Her introduction to the field began during her childhood, when her parents pursued missionary work overseas. Her father—a 1965 graduate of the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry—served at the Karachi Seventh-day Adventist Hospital in Pakistan, where Dr. Saunders often joined his dental team on visits to remote villages to provide care for underserved patients.
Her family’s international journey took them to Okinawa, Hong Kong, and Singapore before she returned to the United States to pursue her education. Dr. Saunders earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1992.
She joined Jayhawk Dental’s predecessor practice in 1997 and became a partner in 2001, helping to shape the practice’s long-standing reputation for integrity, education, and excellence in patient care.
Dr. Saunders is a proud member of the American Dental Association and the Kansas Dental Association. She lives in Lawrence with her five children—Dakota, Savannah, Bailey, Hueston, and Macy—and enjoys spending time with her family and giving back to the local community.

Dr. Justin Anderson, DDS
Originally from Topeka and raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Justin Anderson’s path to dentistry blends academic excellence, community involvement, and strong Kansas roots. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Kansas in 1995, he completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Northwestern University Dental School.
Dr. Anderson’s approach to dentistry reflects his passion for precision, communication, and community service. He has served on numerous local boards, including the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Board, the Bert Nash Mental Health Center Board, and the Great American Bank Board. His dedication extends beyond the clinic—he has also been active in organizations such as VanGo Arts, Inc., the Bill Self Boy Scout Golf Classic, and the Corpus Christi Catholic School Council.
A member of the American Dental Association, Kansas Dental Association, and Academy of Sports Dentistry, Dr. Anderson brings a balanced perspective to dental care—where technical expertise meets community connection. He lives in Lawrence with his wife, Jean, and their two sons, Jack and Joshua. Outside the office, he enjoys coaching, traveling, and cheering on Kansas athletics.
Dr. Lesley R. Nellor, DDS
A native of Baldwin City, Kansas, Dr. Lesley Nellor combines her hometown roots with a refined, patient-centered approach to dentistry. She earned her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from MidAmerica Nazarene University before completing her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Dentistry. Dr. Nellor went on to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency through UMKC, where she expanded her expertise in comprehensive care and complex treatment planning.
Dr. Nellor is known for her gentle demeanor, clear communication, and attention to detail—qualities that make patients feel comfortable and cared for during every visit. She is a proud member of both the American Dental Association and the Kansas Dental Association and remains active in the Lawrence community through the Chamber of Commerce, United Way, and local volunteer work.
She lives in Lawrence with her husband, Jake, their daughter, Lauren, and their two English Bulldogs, Dierks and Charlie.
Dr. Daniel “DJ” Davis, DDS
Born and raised in Lawrence, Dr. Daniel “DJ” Davis is proud to serve the same community that shaped his love for dentistry. From his earliest days at Sunflower Elementary through his college years at the University of Kansas, Dr. Davis has always considered Lawrence home. His interest in dentistry began in eighth grade, when he started working in local dental offices—experiences that solidified his desire to care for others through this profession.
Dr. Davis earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Dentistry, where he served as president of multiple student organizations and as the Class of 2025 Social Chair. Known for his upbeat personality and patient-focused care, Dr. Davis blends modern techniques with hometown values to create a welcoming experience for patients of all ages.
When he’s not in the office, Dr. Davis enjoys reading, writing, and staying active—continuing the same drive for learning and personal growth that defines his work at JayHawk Dental.
